If you only look at the design aspect you could call this the iPod of ereaders. The Cool-er comes in eight fresh colors that will remind you of the iPod-shuffle series. The Cool-er can actually play your MP3-files too so the comparison is more correct than one might first think.
The display in this case is a 6 inch 4-level greyscale e-ink display with 600×800 pixel resolution. The internal memory is 1GB that can be upgraded to 4GB throgh an SD slot. Considering that the going price is £189 the internal memory is quite good.
The file-format support is rather good and it includes PDF, EPUB, FB2, RTF, TXT, HTML, PRC, JPG and MP3. You can also use your Adobe EPUB/PDF DRM ebooks. You will have to load your ebooks via USB or SD, since there’s no Wi-Fi or 3G support.
The battery lasts for about 7000 page turns which is within the expected range.
The Cool-er is not a bad buy at the current price. It’s a good option for the younger crowd that might appreciate the color options. The price level also makes it ideal for students or as a first ereader gift.
